Pint poured on tap at the Winking Judge. Came in a standard pint glass.
Appearance - black as night with a decent finger of tan head. Good retention as some of the head lingered beyond a few minutes reaching far down into the glass.
Smell - quite mild actually, some chocolate but subdued and a bit of a general roasty characteristic.
Taste - like the nose, quite mild, with some chocolate goodness coming through as well as some mild bitterness and roastiness.
Mouthfeel - smooth, reasonably light bodied given that this is a big stout and moderately low carbonation. Starts a fit full and chewy but seems to thin out the more you drink.
Overall - a pretty decent stout, however wish it was just called chocolate stout since that way I would feel like I'm getting a proper chocolate quota. As it is I probably wouldn't repeat this one.

Pint at Arrow and Loon. From notes.
A - Poured black with one finger of beige head. Film of lace and a ring of retention.
S - Chocolate and roast dominate. Some chocolate milk. A bit mild.
T - Chocolate and roast balanced well but it didn't seem overly chocolatey given the name. Enjoyable while being pretty straightforward.
M - Good carbonation, lighter body than expected, creamy mild bitterness.
O/D - A decent stout. These guys still seem to be figuring out what they're doing, but they've made a step in the right direction with this one. Although I expected more chocolate, I didn't mind this at all.
