Palate Contaminants: other beer
The appearance is dark brown-black with minimal light brown head.
Scent has coffee and... not surprisingly, caramelized squash with slight pan seared smokiness.
The taste is far smokier than the nose. The coffee taste is like straight-up black coffee, yet hardly bitter. The sugars that are in cooked gourds seem present, but the sweetness then extends beyond that, although it's not cloying by any means. Minor amounts of barrel and prunes round out the easily detectable tastes for me.
A swish brings out a bit of prickly carbonation. The aftertaste is very pleasant sweet and smoky.
