Special beer, brewed for the 20th anniversary of Brugs Bertje, in Bruges, Belgium, where we sampled it.
It is a dark golden colour, with a white, compact and persistent head.
The smell is fresh and pungent hop, then a resolute pepper. Nice nose. Sweet of honey and cane sugar.
The taste is sweet and spicy, full and round, with a different kind of bitter than you can expect after the smell. Very malty. Fennel.
Very complex, between hop, malt, spices, salty. Intriguing.
Quite light body, and an aftertaste hoppy, with again spicy notes.
