With wild plums.
Dark brown, very hazy. No foam, just a veil.
In the smell there are the plums, unripe. But also cardboard, and wax. For sure, sour.
At the taste the sourness is again strong.
For sure, is a peculiar beer, but not really exciting.
Light body, unripe plums in the aftertaste.

Served in a snifter. Beer is hazy and yellow to brown in color. Almost no head and it clings to the glass. Lacing is low as well as carbonation.
There is a dominant unknown fruit aroma (unknown to me) and some lactic sourness in the nose.
Beer is overall thin and almost peppery in flavor. There is a hint of smoke, its not very sour. Second taste, slightly citric and lactic in back, overall I'm not really enjoying this beer.

Another beer from De Regenboog, another brought back from my recent trip to Belgium. I'm not sure if it's a winter seasonal but the festive sled with the cartoon dog leads me to believe so.
It's a murky coppery-brown with no head to speak of. A tart berry aroma wafts from the glass, (this ale is supposedly brewed with some sort of berry) some brett funk smells too.
Quite tart. Who am I kidding? It's pretty sour, lots of acetic acid and barnyard funk. The berry/cherry sourness flits in and out too. Surprisingly, the finish is relatively clean, just a hint of vinegary sourness and then it's gone. The mouth is light but lots of flavor.
It's unique. Not sure I love it but it is different.

Had this on tap at the Brick Store Pub, served in a Regensboog flute. Poured a beautifully hazy dark golden with a great pure white head with finely beaded bubbles and that leaves some very fine lacing. Unfortunately, that's where my love affair with this beer ended. Smells sharply acetic with strong aromas of green apples and some lemongrass, along with some light horseblanket aromas. Some minerality develops in the nose toward the finish. Whatever fruit is used in this (Sloeberries apparently), the fruit is not fully ripe. The taste is similar but with the unfortunate additional components of band-aids and rubber- bands. The mouthfeel is sharp and harsh and difficult to drink. I like sour and funky beers, but I didn't enjoy this one.

Bottle, 33 cl. Pours a pale cloudy yellow colour. Good head with big bubbles that fades quickly leaving some lace. Smell of apples and plums, but mostly barnyard, or horseblanket. Very strong. Flavor is full and completely sour. Mouth is vinegar, and if you are able to pass the acidity, you can find some fruity taste of cake. Difficult beer, too much acidity. I may have to try it some other time and review it.

Never saw this before the Max's 72 Hours of Belgium Fest. Listed as a Sloeberry Ale at 6% ABV.
Appearance: clear amber color with a short 1" head. Some light lacing develops during the session.
Smell: berries and yeast were easily detectable but a bit soft on the nose.
Taste: mild tart berries, caramel, yeast spiciness, and a soft bitterness made up a mild flavored fruit ale.
Mouthfeel: smooth from start to finish. Medium bodied. Short berry and yeast aftertaste.
Drinkability: interesting berry ale that is as far away from a lambic style and also nothing close to an American fruit ale. This is uniques and interesting and worth a try if you see it.

First beer for me with "slee doorn" and something strange. Quiet nice head but not overwelming and a orange golden color. Smell is fruity, spiced, litle honeylike. Sourness& malts there too. Taste is sour but nice, somhow I taste "rozenbotles". Strange but quiet pleasant. Somehow a reminder to a geuze but cleaner. Hardly any malts and just a litle bitterness but a good brew, if you like to taste something else then the regular its your brew.
