Notes: A malt-driven dark ale with layers of chocolate, caramel and coffee over a base of roasted malts. It boasts a rich mouthfeel giving way to some warming alcohol on the finish.

Taste: creamy mouth-feel, baker's chocolate dry black malts. Toasted semi sweet malt nose. Black, opaque, with tan head and delicate lace. Medium/full body. Balanced. 35 IBUs

I'm trying the Buckledown Porter at the Ohare Hilton due to missed connection to FLL. It poured a nearly opaque mahogany with ecru head that is leaving some lace. The scent is roast you with hints of sweetness. The taste is roast you with hints of caramel and coffee. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's a good beer.

16oz draft poured into a bulbous pint glass is a deep brown, cola colored, body floating a 1/4in cream head that dissipates to a glass hugging ring.
Stitched lacing remains on the glass.
Aromas are chocolatey and sweet malt with a bitterness I can't quite recognize, not off-putting, just my weak beak.
Flavor is biscuit malt, chocolate, raisin, and there's another dark fruit in there as well.
Mouthfeel leans heavy as expected, with a clean finish.
Overall, I like that this is available, AND I think I could make it. Simple, straightforward, clean, and delicious.

This beer really hit the spot during brunch. A sessionable dark beer that has all the flavor and mouthfeel of a bigger beer is just a home run in my book. Tons of roast that gave coffee notes of espresso and dark chocolate. Really well carbed to give an almost creaminess. Impressed and hope this makes it into 6 packs of cans.

Served at BuckleDown in a 13 oz. size. Look Deep dark brown almost black with a thin tan head that disappears fast. Sporadic lacing. Smell is very faint chocolate and coffee. Taste is bitter chocolate with almost a metallic type of nibble and light carbonation. Did not like the finish. Good named beer. Feel is creamy and ok. Overall just fair. Not to my liking

Served on draft in a balloon glass at Old Town Pour House.

Moving from the balcony to the main bar for something new during this bachelor party. This stuff pours a murky midnight sienna topped by a finger or so of khaki foam. The nose comprises sweet coffee, mild roasted malts, a touch of graham cracker, and a vague hint of even vaguer fruit. The taste brings in more of the same, the coffee a touch bitterer now, and there's a light breeze of flowers blowing across the tongue amidst the malty others. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a somewhat dry finish. Overall, a pretty solid porter, nothing noteworthy, but a nice, roasty drink on this celebratory e'en.

Draft pint at Monk's, quick review from written notes.

Dark brown with mahogany edges. Compact head of khaki colored foam. A few concentric rings of lacing form, with spotty bits in between.

Mild roasty aroma, slightly metallic unfortunately.

Milk chocolate and malted milk ball flavors, slightly metallic again. Light roast bitterness, medium bodied, somewhat creamy. Overall it was ok, but the metallic notes threw off it's more redeeming qualities.

A: Dark brown with a thin white head, which fades quickly to a wisp of white lacing.
S: Roasting coffee and caramel in the forefront with chocolate in the background.
T: A pleasant mix of coffee and bitter chocolate.
M: Rich and velvety with low carbonation.
O: A pleasant departure from many other overly sweet coffee stouts I've tried recently.
