There are 2 variants for this barrel aged stout, bourbon and rye. Barrels were supplied by Few Distillery in Evanston IL.
This review is for the bourbon variant.
Look: deep, dark with little head
Smell: strong bourbon nose with some dark fruit and chocolate
Taste: less bourbon and barrel than i got from the nose but still plenty. Some smokiness. Not a chewy stout but still delicious.
Feel: The base stout on its own has a dry finish but that disappears after barrel aging.
Overall: really enjoyed this. Buckledown really hits home runs with their barrel aged offerings.
