This beer began life as a big ol’ imperial stout, bursting with notes of toffee, coffee and chocolate. This brew was then rested for 6-months in FEW bourbon barrels. This initial aging imparted vanilla and oak notes. A second rest in very fresh bourbon barrels provided a bigger whiskey character, while accentuating vanilla and light tobacco notes.

12oz undated can poured into a snifter shows an opaque, yet clear looking, dark cola colored body that almost floats a 1/4" head of chestnut brown mixed bubbles that recedes to a wispy island and leaves the glass clean behind.
Bourbon notes of vanilla, ash, and wet oak dominate, with a hint of cocoa and the flavors match. With warmth, I also get some fruitiness, maybe plum.
Soft, full, feel that doesn't quite coat the tongue and clears the palate cleanly.
Overall a nice bourbon tinged stout.

12 ounce can into a snifter. Released 5/6/22, had 5/7/22.
Pours a dark brown, mostly opaque, with no head and a few flecks of lacing. Aromas of bourbon, oak, char, malt, chocolate, some vanilla. Pretty much the same flavors: bourbon, malt, oak, vanilla, chocolate, some caramel and char. Smooth, a good but thinner full body, appropriately carbonated.
Strong and good prominent barrels, very good aromas and flavors. The thin feeling is a bit of a negative. Certainly enjoyable.
