Far north on the Door Peninsula and away from the hustle, you’ll find Newport State Park, Wisconsin’s only designated International Dark Sky Park. Here the skies are so dark the Milky Way looms bright and occasionally the northern lights come out to play. Inspired by this quiet place of wonder, we created Dark Skies. This celestial beauty is brewed with a thoughtful selection of dark malts, providing notes of fresh coffee, dark chocolate and crusty bread.

12oz can dated 08/23/21, 5 months old, nice looking can
Impressive looking beer. looks like a stout, impressive head, but the head fades quickly leaving a little lacing
Tastes is roasted malt, chocolate, maybe a little bread and smoke. A pine hop note on the finish. Smooth and rather easy drinking.
Feel is lighter than it looks and tastes but this adds to easy fast drinking.
A nice beer, worth giving a try

This beer pairs incredibly well with desserts, especially chocolate ice cream/cake.

Pours amazingly like a stout: thick and smooth, settling in the glass indistinguishable from the biggest of imperial stouts. Black bodied, with a thick head as dark as Colombian coffee beans. Retention is somewhat lacking; after an initially impressive stay, it then fades to a mere remnant of its former glory.

Very, very roasty on the nose, but smooth and balanced, as well. Notes of coffee, toast, moderate char, chocolate, grape, and nuts.

As thick as it looks during the pour, it's a bit lighter on the palate - but it's still very thick for a lager, creamy and full bodied.

Flavor really lives in the basement of dark malts: chocolate-covered nuts, coffee, prune, toast. Just a touch of smoke; moderate char.

Pours a pitch black, completely opaque, and surprisingly viscous for a 5.2% lager. Nice thick velvety mocha colored head forms on the beer. Aroma has notes of creamy roasted malts, cocoa, and some light piney hops.

Taste has notes of roasted malts, creamy, cocoa, tobacco, a light ash, and a hint of smoke before giving way to a sharp piney hop bite. Its a lovely smooth, roasty profile. Feel is medium, fuller bodied, rather dry on the finish.

Overall this beer was a real pleasant surprise - its a lovely beer and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. If I get the chance to pick this one up again, I will.
