It's finally snowed so for me that means stout and porter season.
Bottle said nitrogen infused and to pour very aggressively..which I did into a one liter stein ( beer came in a 650 ml bottle ). A 670 ml stein would have held it easily.
Definitely can pick out some classic milk chocolate notes in the aroma.
Flavours are nice, if a little understated but that watery ass feel is a real let down..
Glad I tried it but I can also see why it's now retired.

650ml bottle - somehow I can't imagine Michael Jackson drinking oatmeal stout.
This beer pours a solid black abyss, with the barest of basal red cola edges, and three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and rather creamy beige head, which leaves some leeward sea cove lace around the glass as things quickly get a move on.
It smells of toasted bready and caramel malt, muddled dark orchard fruit, bitter cafe-au-lait, a twinge of black licorice, and weak earthy, weedy hops. The taste is grainy (the oats really do well to differentiate themselves), roasted caramel malt, day-old coffee, a bit of sour milk, dark cocoa powder, and a gentle leafy, earthy, and mildly herbal hoppiness.
The carbonation (or should that be nitrogenation?) is very understated in its barely palpable frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and well smooth, with a cold steely creaminess hovering just out of palatal reach. It finishes off-dry, that roasty caramel backboner (not a typo) persisting like a boss, with some wispy coffee and chocolate esters hitching a ride.
Definitely more of an Irish-seeming stout, even though it's not particularly dry, and the nitro treatment obviates any of the oatmeal's mouthfeel benefits. Easy to drink, and smooth, yes, but hardly the bad boy or juvenile delinquent of the west coast stout set.

Deep Cove 'Smooth Criminal Nitro Oatmeal Stout' @ 5.0% , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $6
A-pour is dark cola brown from the bottle to near black in the glass with a small tan head which is quickly dissapating leaving a minimal lace along the pint
S-hints of coffee , chocolate
T-sweet & smooth , taste is closer to milk/sweet stout actually
MF-ok/good carbonation , feels like a true medium body
Ov-nitro is lost in this beer , weak effort

New nitro oatmeal stout from Deepcove Brewing in North Vancouver from a 650 ml bottle. Poured into a pint glass a 1/2 inch almost black with a slightly off white head that last a minute then leaves just a bit of whispy lacing .
Smells of roast malt and chocolate , very robust malty sweet nose. Tastes of smokey roast malt and chocolate with the hops and roast malt lingering in the finish, not too much oatmeal. Finish is a little bit on the sweet side maybe due to the lack of carbonation.
The nitro gives a very smooth mouth feel (with the oatmeal) very low on the nitrogen almost feels flat but the flavour saves it .
A very full flavoured Oatmeal Stout but I think the nitrogen conditioning needs some work to make this a great beer
