Big Spruce Brewing

One of the nicest brewery locations I've been to. Big outdoor spread (similar to HF). Two taprooms and a big retail space. Beer is way above average for Eastern Canada. Great view of the lake with lots of outdoor tables. Excellent food truck as well. If you are on Cape Breton Island, don't miss this place.

 

 

 

This spot is awesome! Guy behind the counter was super chill -land helpful. I was hoping to get some beers but they were gone, but it is Canada Day weekend. Honestly this set up is like a National Park but with beer.

 

Visited on a Monday afternoon (Memorial Day, in fact - but I suppose that makes no difference in Nova Scotia). Brewery is on one side of the road; retail sales on the other. Everything looks almost brand new. Spectcular view of the lake. Beer deck (enclosed in plastic - it's chilly this time of year!) was packed, with kids, moms, and a dog or two lending a certain festive air to the proceedings. I had quite a drive ahead of me, so I sadly but responsibly just got my growler filled. Guy at the counter was very knowledgeable, friendly, efficient - can't complain. They had quite a selection of their own brews on tap, in bottles, and in cans. I'd love to stop back sometime and relax on their deck!

big patio area connected to the store. most of the beer reflects local love, though had a couple good ones. bottles not cheap. lineups can be long in summer.
