Stopped in for an afternoon snack and beer. Atmosphere is almost like a corner bar with some outdoor seating and some tables in the bar area. It was pretty hot out, so we sat inside. It was happy hour and they had a special on oysters, so we got 6 raw and 6 char-grilled with some clam chowder. The oysters and chowder were very good. Also ordered the oyster stout, which I think may have been the best stout I had in Asheville (It may have been the only one, but the Oyster Stout is very good). There was not a huge selection of their own beers on tap (maybe 6 or 7). I would definitely order the stout and oysters again.

Oysters (obviously) are a major draw. The fried blue-cheese oysters are awesome. Many other choices on the menu, and portions are enough to satisfy any normal person.
Solid in house brews, guest taps, and usually something on cask.

A short drive from the downtown area and easy to find. A definite hole in the wall feel here as the place is tiny with purple walls, a few tables, and a nice granite top bar. There was a blackboard listing 13 beers on draft, and the food menu actually looked good but I wasn't hungry. $24 for a dozen oysters but they had a few different type to choose from.
I had a few pints here and the beers ranged from good to so-so. Service was super friendly and prompt. This is more of a locals place as the service staff seemed to know everyone but me. If you want to enjoy the local vibe outside of the tourist area, this place will give you that feel.

Fresh oysters and delicious craft beer...sign me up. Awesome spot at the end of State st on Haywood in West Asheville. Always amazing service. Unfortunately limited seating but definitely worth stopping by. Oysters are always great as well.

Excellent place! Pretty small in size, so service is quick and personal, and the beer selection is pretty stellar, featuring their own in-house brews as well as some notable guest taps.

Easy to find, just a few miles outside of downtown. Location is small and service was somewhat slow. It was a nice day so a lot of people were outside, otherwise it would have been packed. Very laid back atmosphere and the beers were tasty and CHEAP! Food was great, I had the BOLT (BLT with Fried Oysters) and it was outstanding! I liked their Stouts and Porters most, but most of their beer was average to above average. Would recommend for good food and beer, on the outskirts of downtown.

On the south west side of Ashevile they just celebrated a 1 year anniversary very small and cozy, this is where they brew their beer its a brewpub that specializes in small batch brews and oysters first and seafood it has a very local feel its not downtown the service is friendly they made me feel like i should be here they have outdoor seating but it is on a busy street we sat inside and saw that happy hour was from 3-6 with $3 dollar pours and $10/dozen local only oysters, they also had other oysters from around the US to try they brew their own beer and offer unlimited flights to your choosing they had around a dozen of house brews and 3 guest taps had the mosaic 2IPA it was great with 2 dozen raw oysters only about 3 miles from downtown and worth the visit we went here 3 times and felt right at home

After a surprisingly (mostly) dry night during our Asheville camping extravaganza, and a nice morning hike, my fiancé and I headed to some of the outlaying brewpubs. First on the list was Oyster House.
I really liked the vibe this place puts out. Solid bluish purple walls, a chrome-plated ceiling, simple vintage wall hangings, and a beautiful, giant mirror gives this place a relaxing, almost elegant feel. We sat at the bar and nearly froze to death from the blasting air conditioning, but perhaps that’s the price you pay for sitting in a seafood shack.
The small brewery had two beers on tap that day, so we had a pint of each – a nitro stout and an American pale ale. The stout was nice with a subtle roast, but not as thick or as rich as I would have preferred. The American pale was malty and slightly sweet – a solid effort but nothing I would go out of my way for. The menu looked promising for those who enjoy a good oyster, as they had at least six varieties for sale by the pound, but having already eaten lunch we gave it a pass.
Overall, it was a nice, simple spot that augments its own decent brews with excellent brews from around the country. I might have been tempted to take a growler of the pale ale home, depending on price. I actually preferred it to any of the spots we went on the previous day.

Eclectic, but it is Asheville. The standout beer here was the namesake oyster stout. The beers were obviously unfiltered. In fact one stout was visibly cloudier than the next. Why? Maybe one got a shot of sediment and one didn't? Beers were cleanly brewed which is not always the case. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Decor features walls painted bluish-purple and rustic tables made from 4x4's and 2x4's with some other tables and sofa seating. We sat near the windows. Beware of afternoon sun which comes blazing through. Even on a Dec. day it got almost too intense. Food is basic but good without many choices. We were happy overall with our visit.
