A 330ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2014. Picked up a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. Apparently created after a demand for insanely hoppy beer from beer blogger Bear Beer Reviews.
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A wonderfully rich marmalade hue with fine sediment and good carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a thick surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of intensely fruity hops with hints of grapefruit, orange peel, lime, citrus, white grape, melon, mild tropical fruit, grass, sweet caramel malt, earthy yeast, stewed hops and a hint of booze in the background. Amazing.
T: Tastes of zealously aromatic hops with a powerful bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lime/lemon, citrus, white grape, melon, subtle tropical fruit, grass, sweet caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. A twinge of alcohol/solvent in the background. Well-attenuated, followed by a formidable bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and good body. Hop oils tantalise the palate. Rather astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of absurdly fruity aromatic hops, bitterness, caramel malt and earthy yeast.
O: An impressive effort with an imposing hop character. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are a towering tsunami of hops that stun the senses. Nice body. The only minor quibble is an undertone of yeasty/alcoholic harshness to the flavour, though this doesn't come across too readily. Lovely, and goes down a treat (for hop-heads at least). Well worth sampling if you come across it.
