Woah, great beer here.
L- Bartender didn't pour very well and the result was a beer with no head. Medium copper/Amber color.
S- Due to a lack of any discernible head, the smell was muted. Hops and sweet malts. Much more pine than citrus.
T- sweet malt backed by strong, bitter and piney hops. Very cascad-ey. No discernible alcohol.
F- Goes down smooth. Nice dry finish that keeps you wanting more. Pleasant carbonation.
O- Phenomenal beer. Well balanced and refreshing.

I'm doing this review off of the bottle I purchased from the brewer but I also had initially on cask at the brewery as well.
Appearnace - Incredibly perfect head that is maintained to the final sip and dark brown murky body . Looks more like an English Brown Ale or German bock than your typical clear orange American IPA. With that said though its great to look at. Lacing is tremendous as is the head retention throughout the full consumption.
Smell - This particular IPA uses Chinook hops grown locally. Fresh piney hop scents are more noticeable that fruity hops with this one.
Taste - Extremely well balanced between the maltiness and hop presence. About as balanced as an IPA I've had IMO. The flavor is biscuit/bready up front from the malts and fresh local grains balanced with crisp hop bite in the finish. Slight lingering bitterness but not overpowering or detrimental at all. Right on the fringe of bitterness which is where you want an IPA. More piney hopped than fruity.
Mouthfeel - Very full bodied and creamy.
Overall - The 4th step is far superior to the experimental 3rd step. I think this one is a keeper. Perhaps there is some bias over competitor IPAs I've rated and tried because I can drink this beer fresh from the source locally, but regardless its still a very fine representation of a well crafted properly balanced American IPA. Nicely done!
