Poured on tap at woodberry kitchen into a curved pint glass. Pours a midnight black with hints of amber that barely escape. This beer falls flat both in taste and on the palette with a very one note burnt malt flavor and almost no carbonation so it falls off the tongue too quickly.

I don't get Belgian Strong Dark Ale, barely get pumpkin, but I do get chili pepper. Still a fun beer, and you never know what you're going to get from these guys. I respect that they keep me on my toes.

Draught @ Mahaffey's

A - Darker than expected, near black in color similar to cola. Minimal dark brown head that was instantly gone with no lacing.

S - Dark roast. Minimal hops.

T - Mainly dark roasted malt with secondary metallic, tangy character. No Belgian flavor that I can discern, and this beer bears little resemblance to popular Strong Dark Belgian Ale's. Description on the menu read peppery and with notes of pumpkin, though I tasted neither of those flavors. Not too much going on flavor-wise. Hop flavor low. Bitterness low. Alcohol pretty reserved for close to 8%.

F - Light on carb. Could have easily been confused for a porter based on carb, texture, and flavor.

O - Overall an OK beer. Not too much going on in really any of the categories, and could have easily been confused for a porter based on combination of flavor, texture, color, and carb. With so many options, would likely not drink again.
