The name of this beer is "Chasm Lake". I got it as a present from Colorado and didn't think much of it... a stout clocking in at only 8.5%, so I decided to use it to cook my lentils.

But when I opened it and took a sip I knew this was no ordinary stout- it pours thick and viscous, with a nice long-lasting head, and it smells sharply of whiskey barrel (not bourbon).

This brew has got a lot of body and presence for a "small" stout and drinks easy. If anything, the barrel presence is too strong.

I would try it again, and next time I won't be cooking with it!

I quite enjoyed this beer so I added it to beer advocate while having this beer on vacation, on draft, at the brewery.

It's a sneaky dangerous bourbon aged stout that is quite smooth and hide alcohol well.

A: oil with a 1 cm head and another 1cm of meniscus some bubbles stick to the glass the whole time

S: very sweet, one of my favorite smelling bourbon stouts, hard to describe but cherry, bourbon, perhaps real maple syrup

T: dark cherry, alcohol, bourbon, biscuit could be dangerous because high alcohol but little residual alcohol taste mouthfeel as stated is very smooth with little bubbles on the tongue

Overall I like this on draft nitro and think it would be delicious during a cold month on the porch or maybe sitting in AC in the summer like I am
