stumbled into front range sort of randomly to check it out, and for not having ever really heard anyone talk about these guys, i was super impressed with the two beers i had. this is a black gose with limes and fresno chilies, super unique recipe, nicely executed, and delicious. it doesnt look like much from the tap, deep dark brown but not real lively. aroma is great though, i smell the roast right away with a strong coffee similarity, and then the salt, high minerals and enough to make this properly salty. the pepper isnt there at all, which is the aspect i was nervous about, so thats all good. the limes are freshly zested it seems, and quite prominent. the flavor has a little of the pepper, all in the finish, fresh tasting too, super faint heat in the throat on the swallow, but the other elements of the beer are enough to put it out and refresh it almost instantly. the lime is prominent, the salt is earthy and awesome, and the surprising part for me is how well done the sour part is. its a fairly clean lacto sourness, medium on the intensity scale, but puckery, lemony, and fully appropriate. nicely done there! i love what the pepper adds, i feared itd be too much, fresnos are hot, but this is brilliant. i still wish the beer had more carbonation, its almost still and thats really my only critique. loving this flavor complexion, what a cool surprise of a beer! super enjoyable and different, great work here by front range!
