Strangeways Brewing "That's My Jam! Berry Sour"
On tap at the brewery, 18 December 2014
$9/13 oz. glass
Notes: Berry/sour. Cloudy, very dark terra cotta colored body with a ruby-purple cast. Short lived white head and no lacing - dirty glass? - How weird at the brewery? Aroma: sour, very light malt, hint of fruit. Flavor: Clean, direct tartness softened by very lightly sweet and just slightly caramelish malt. More of a berry/sour mix than the nose suggests. Minimal bitterness, dry tart finish. Overall: It hits all of the bases, and delivers. More complexity would be great, but it's still a solid offering. Based on my interactions with other tasters at the table it appeals to both fruit beer drinkers and sour beer aficionados as well.
