Pours jet black with tan head. Aroma of pine, citrus, tropical fruit, and slight roasted malt. Flavor is somewhat bitter with pine, grapefruit, slight roasted, biscuit, mango/papaya and a touch of caramel. Feel is med-light with moderate carbonation. Where I think this is a tasty interpretation of the Black IPA style, I feel it is slightly lacking in flavor and aroma hops. Overall, very drinkable and tasty.

Head doesn't really do much other than supply a modest half inch foam, milk chocolate colored head on top and old fashioned licorice colored liquid. Lacing is spotty but certainly there.
Nose is earthy, pine laden, and finishes with a touch of sweet malt.
Tastes very nice, as it first bites with hop goodness in the form of that earthy pine but adds just a touch of papaya maybe? It's a juicy tropical thing nonetheless.
Finish is hella bitter, maybe a little chalky somehow.
If the VCU Rams (for which "Havoc" is attributable ) play at a level as thrillingly sharp and no-nonsense as this, than it oughta be a decent year.
