Went into the beer cooler and the "owner" verbally assaulted me and kicked me out of the store. Keep in mind, I was simply looking at beer. He said I can't be in the walk-in cooler. I said there was no sign. Then he flipped his lid and walked me out. What a douche...the owner's name is Bob Anderson, avoid him if you choose to venture in. I used to spend hundreds here as it was my go-to liquor store. NEVER WILL COME BACK!!!

A fairly small store in NE Minneapolis. They stock some really great beers. They have a $9.99 mix a six pack section with nice variety, but not many hidden gems. Lots of large format bottles. Reasonable prices for the Twin Cities.

I travel to the Twin Cities every couple of months and this is one of my must-visit places. Always a good selection of local and not-so-local craft beers. I've never been able to go in and not buy something. And I really like the way they display the bombers on wine racks. Different and very attractive. Check 'em out!

Very nice bottle shop. Had my doubts when I first walked in as it felt like a wine shop first, beer shop second, but it turned out that it was just their presentation that was throwing me off. They'd converted their wine racks to selling beer and more reach-in coolers were filled with beer once I got closer to them and could see what was inside. Ended up scoring a few Southern Tier and Bell's beers that aren't found in NV, so I was happy!

This bottle shop is great! One of the owners, Dan, is very friendly and helpful. They always have the latest releases along with all the year round beers in stock. Drink and buy local, these guys rock.

If you are looking for American craft beer in the Twin Cities, this is one place you should visit. Stinson Wine, Beer and Spirits, in its sole year of existence, has become one of the most reliable places to find Minnesota beers. They were the first store anywhere to carry Indeed and Boom Island, and the first in the Twin Cities to sell Bent Paddle. If it's a Minnesota beer sold in stores, it is likely sold here.

I could say virtually the same thing about craft beers from other states. The domestic craft selection at SWBS is top-notch.

That said, their import selection is a work in progress. You can usually find some interesting British and Belgian beers at SWBS, but not as many as you might like, and almost nothing from -- ahem -- the Axis states.

I don't consider that a knock on this store, so much as an acknowledged limitation. There is only so much shelf and cooler space in any store, and SWBS focuses tightly on craft beer; the closer to ground zero, the better. And shelf turnover is fast. I never fear that I am getting old product here.

New visitors should seek out Daniel if they want beer advice or recommendations. The staff is uniformly friendly and enthusiastic, but a few are almost willfully ignorant about beer. All are fun to talk to, and virtually all of them have worked together for several years, having conceived this store while working together at another. It has a real "family" vibe.

Stinson Wine, Beer and Spirits doesn't have the best prices in town, nor the best selection. But they are damned close on both (if you ignore imports), and are the only store I regularly go out of my way to visit.
