Pours a hazed gold. Flavor has a spicy hoppy bite to it. Mild sweetness. A burn kind of hits the back of my mouth. Interesting. Real smooth liquid feel and a very easy to drink brew. I can't say I feel it really fits the guidelines for the style, but it is a nice one to drink.

I feel a bit odd adding a beer from this venerable Scottish brewery... what with being from the colonies and all. However, I verified on-line that this beer really does exist. Ratebeer lists it as a golden/blond ale, which is what the beer menu at Max's has it listed as. However, that style of beer is not listed in the BA data base, so have to go with scottish ale.
The beer pours a cloudy golden color with thick creamy lacing and good head retention. I get some light malt and sulphur on the nose, but not a lot. The beer smells pretty good, but not particularly impressive or exceptional. The beer is very light on the palate, which given the abv. and cask conditioning, is about what you'd expect. The beer is pretty crisp and has some nice bitterness. The flavors are pretty clean, if somewhat simple. The mouthfeel is light, creamy and very soft. As you would expect, the beer is pretty drinkable and would make an ideal session beer given the abv.
This is a pretty good beer, but really is nothing special.
