Served in a Nonic Pint
A: Very dark ruby colour. Little white head with little lacing.
S: A sweet coffee smell. Dark roast come through very well
T: Sweet caramel, coffee and chocolate come through. BItterness is well balanced.
M: There is a nice bitter finish that is lingering but in the end there is an alcohol taste that shows up.
O: THis is a great porter. It is truelly and Engine Oil as it is described as. The balanced of the bitterness and the malt (and roast/dark malts) is very well balanced.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a dark black colour with a vaguely off white head.
Smells roasted and malty, slight yeasty twang to it too.
Tastes of quite dark malts, a burnt taste growing in your mouth after swallowing, mingling with the hop bitterness. Mostly rich coffee tastes with some sweet chocolate as you swallow as well as the burnt taste.
Overall quite a nice beer in small quantities, would be better with more focus on the non-burnt/roasted flavours, and a more wholesome mouthfeel but nonetheless very tasty. Cheap too.

Brewed for the supermarket chain 'Tesco', one of their 'Finest' range of products.
Tall 330cl bottle, best before Jan 2013, poured into a Gordon's thistle shaped glass in Oct 2011.
Looks wonderful, deep, dark, almost ebony in colour, one of the blackest porters I've come across. The rich, creamy, tan coloured head sat proudly on top.
Mocha, dark chocolate and ground coffee esters sweep across the nose, no harshness or bitterness, this is one smooth brew.
The taste follows the aromas, a slight hop bitterness infuses with the other flavours mentioned in the smell to give this beer a balanced and rich texture of an alcoholic creamy chocolate cake.
One small bottle is enough though, too much weight in the body to have another. Just a little too rich for me.

A wee 330ml bottle of heavy weight porter.
Pouring pitch black with very little creme caramel coloured head, exuding a heavy scent of coffee, molasses, petrol and ethanol.
Rich creamy notes of buttery expresso, rich dark chocolate and a heavy weight punch of charcoal bitterness that floors in both senses.
A nice heavy consistency, a real full bodied thick mouthfeel.
Good but a little too much for me guv'nor
