Day 16 of the 2020 Advent Calendar. Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a fluffy off white head. Smells of carrot cake with some caramelized grain. Tastes of caramelized grain with grassy hops. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

Bottle #257
Bottle says a "Carrot Cake Ale" with special ingredients of carrots, walnuts and brown sugar. (Wow....)
Pours dark brown with a firm and thick khaki head that's long lasting and eventually reduces to a light lace over the top. Comes back full and creamy with a light swirl and looks a lot like a wonderful cappuccino.
Nose is light sweet coffee and very light molasses with a nutty undertone. I get no carrots in the nose but one can find the hints of brown sugar in the molasses notes.
Flavor is a nutty coffee and cream with hints of carrot juice in the flavor profile. But, wait until the finish and back palate.
The finish is full on carrot juice! It's long lasting and pure carrots - all the way. Weird is the best way I can describe this beer. I'm actually not sure if I'd ever drink it again- yet I'm forced to admit that it intrigues me.
(Note: Warning - if you don't like carrot juice stay away from this one).

22oz Bottle #589 poured into large 20 oz glass
Appearance: Pours a deep reddish-brown with a fair amount of visible bubbling within. Has a 2 finger off-white head that lingers. Similar effect with the head to what I've seen with the Wake Up Dead, with large bubbles on top that get smaller and more tightly packed the closer you get to the liquid.
Smell: I'm not really picking up much to write home about here from a smell perspective outside of the base ale. Maybe a faint bit of brown sugar and carrots, but this isn't all that big in smell.
Taste: This is... different. It's not sweet, it's not bitter, it's just... different. Clearly not a carrot cake taste, for sure. Yes, I definitely taste the carrots. I do taste some walnuts as well. But I expected something a bit sweeter given that it's a "carrot cake ale." Maybe I'm overly disappointed here, but I was hoping for a yummy dessert beer from the bottle's description. This doesn't fall under that category, but would probably pair well with a steak that's served with some grilled root vegetables like carrots or potatoes or some Brussel sprouts. It is pretty flavorful, I'll give it that.
Mouthfeel: Pretty clean. Minimal aftertaste.
Overall: Sigh. I really wish that this had been a dessert ale rather than something that works better paired with a main course. Very drinkable, not bad by any stretch, but clearly not what one would have been led to believe it was.
