Looks dark, porter like, translucent at the edges, but nor garnet-like. It pours with a good foam but that fades fast. From the smell, I know it's a sour. Presumably it is lactic that I smell? Maybe there is the faintest hint of acetic acid to the aroma, or maybe it is a touch of fruitiness and I am psyching myself out trying to name it. It is faint. Taste is a one dimensional sour taste. Would I be able to tell the difference between this and so many Berliners that rely on lactic? Not sure. I would like to see the lactic more balanced with the malts, maybe pick up a little chocolate or raisin or some Brett-derived cherry flavor. As I drink more, I maybe can find hints of those things, the chocolate, maybe, but too faint. I want more balance in this style. Although it is oak aged, I get no tannic flavors. I am trying to convince myself that there is some vanillin from the oak, and maybe there is. In addition to wanting a little more chocolate, I think it would do with a little more sweetness. I do not know if it was made through blending, but if I were blending it, those would be things I would seek to establish more firmly through blending. This is my first MobCraft brew. I actually got 4 bottles of it on a discount rack, but I think there is some promise of good beers from this company in the futue.

Tap. Oud bruin aged in barrels that previously held Noctis. Coffee notes.
