Yesterday's meandering around through the Bottle (!) Backlog took a detour into The CANQuest (tm), however gloriously briefly, but today, it is back to/on the Bottlewagon. 8=( My recycler must be astounded this past month+ since I rarely fill the bin, but I have been doing so on a weekly basis since ~ 16 March. Usually, I am laser-focused on CANs & those get set aside for a ~ quarterly visit from Jeff Lebo over in York County for his massive CANlection. All is not lost, however, as most Bottles contain things that I did & still want to drink. Especially the barrel-aged beers and even more especially, the non-whiskey barrel-aged beers. They give me an opportunity to delve into my liquor cabinet where it normally remains closed with its contents merely gathering dust. Sigh. My advancing age has softened me up so that I no longer desire shots. I will merely pour a wee dram & sip on it over the course of the review for a point/counterpoint. This is one such beer.

From the Bottle: "At MobCraft[,] we turn ideas into beer. Submit your idea, vote on what's next. *** Join The Mob!"; "Limited Edition"; "Agave Imperial Cream Ale aged in Tequila Barrels [-] 2018"; "Señor Bob [-] An Imperial Cream Ale so popular we brewed it again. This ale is brewed with agave then aged in tequila barrels. Agave and oak character tumble by as notes of tequila dance among the stars."; "Bottle #225 of 2125"; "For the Love of Beer! Drink Out of a Glass[,] Enjoy at 55 - 60° F[,] Keep chilled"; "Love the Planet[,] Please Recycle"; "Cellar Certified".

Phew! After all of that transcription, I was ready to Pop! the cap & have a drink! I was thwarted in this since the result of my slow, gentle C-Line pour was the formation of a mountainous two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white had with far better retention than I anticipated. 8=( Color was a beauteous Deep-Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was redolent with tequila! 8=O I could smell it & the woody quality imparted by the barrel. This was going to be a treat! Mouthfeel was medium, big for the style. The taste was very much of agave, tequila & wood-barrel aging! Mmm. Houston, we have a problem! All of the previous is out of spec for the Style. It may have begun as an American Cream Ale, but what I was drinking was something else entirely. I rate to Style, so please forgive me here & read my review, rather than simply looking at the score. Finish was intensely dry, very mellow, but also very dry. It was really everything that I had hoped for & more, but it just did not fit into the Style guidelines. 8=( If you like Tequila, you will love this! If you want a Cream Ale on a hot, humid Summer's day, then I highly recommend Genny Cream. YMMV.

Served from bottle into glass at home. Pours deep amber in color, low clarity, with somewhat long lasting white head. Aroma is floral and vegetal, with some boozy barrel character. Very reminiscent of cheap tequila. No hop aroma detectable. Taste is more flowers and vegetables with a decidedly sweet finish. No significant malt or hop flavor can be detected beneath the tequila flavors. Mild alcohol flavor detectable. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall I do not enjoy this beer. The somehow artificial and cheap tequila flavor and aroma overpowers any malt or hops. The finish is boozy and syrupy sweet, causing the flavors to linger far too long on the palate. Definitely not a beer I would say is perfect for a warm day.

Taste: citrus hop, barrel wood notes big sharp Tequila alcohol bite. Same as with the aroma. Honey color, semi clear, smaller white head in taster glass. Medium body. Boozy finish makes it not so creamy. 16 IBUs
