12oz can. No dating information found.
Black colored body, with a thin mahogany back lit edge. Brief thin tan head, but islands and a ring persist.
Aroma does not yield much but a general sweetened lightly roasted malt fragrance.
Taste is a real roller coaster. Has sweet chocolate milk, going to a overdone curdled chocolate milk. Very sweet. Cola and herbal spice nuances. Caramel.
Slightly more than medium mouth feel, with a sticky texture. Leaves the mouth kind of deserted. Okay carbonation.
Becomes a struggle to drink enough of this beer to complete a review.

Appearance: Pours a completely black color with a minimal head. SRM of 23. (3.50)

Aroma: Strong aromas of wood, wood shavings, and root beer. Some vanilla. (3.00)

Flavor: Flavors follows with dusty wood chippings, some cocoa powder, vanilla and root beer off the end. (3.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied, low carbonation. Vanilla, dust, and root beer lingers. (3.50)

Overall: Yikes on this one. Dust, wood shavings, cocoa, vanilla and root beer. This was a mess of a beer that should not have been distributed or sold. Drain pour and don't be fooled and pick this one up like I did. (Rating: 3.23)

I really like milk stouts, but this one is so-so at best. Smell is more dark, unsweetened, chocolate than the smooth vanilla-infused milk-chocolate taste typically found in sweet / milk stouts. Initial taste is burnt malt that overwhelms anything they were trying to achieve with the addition of vanilla or lactose. Almost no sweetness or smooth milky deliciousness found in good MS's. Mouthfeel isn't too bad. Does a nice job of feeling full across your tongue. Aftertaste doesn't get better than the initial taste.

Overall feels like a me-too offering that falls far short, rather than an honest attempt at a good milk stout. Disappointed.

Poured from the tap into a tulip. Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Smells of milky chocolate. Tastes of chocolate with some sweet milk finish. Beer is medium bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.
