without a doubt the better of the two beers i had at their denver brewery, this is pretty basic, but true to style, well made, slightly richer and fuller than a basic pale lager, still with some german character to both the malt and the yeast, nice water chemistry evident, and a mouthfeel robust enough for cooler weather, i thought this was pretty solid overall. pretty golden yellow brew with a short but lace leaving white head, fine carbonation. a nose of german pale barley malt, minerals, bready yeast, dry crackers, and lightly herbal noble hops, maybe a hint brassy or metallic but its subtle, and there is good balance here. slightly fluffy feeling almost suggests some wheat, but the flavor is a simple barley note, maybe a hint nutty, on the dry side but not exceedingly so, a little soapy thing to it, familiar lager yeast that fits the style, and just a little bit of hop bitterness on the back end, pretty restrained there. looks like these guys do about a million brews, i liked this one, i disliked the vanilla wafer porter, so the jury is still out overall, but this one shows some technical competency and respect for tradition. well done, if unremarkable overall.
