Got this from the website a while back. Cheers!
From a bottle into a snifter
EBC: 194
IBU: 80
Knock on Wood
APPEARANCE: Pours out opaque black and yields a 1+ finger, thicker looking, creamy head with solid retention. Black body and no real carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a swirly half wisp and ring, leaving touches of lacing on the glass.
SMELL: Peated and earth aromas for sure, with some whisky, wood and leather as well. Hints of chocolate and roasted flavors in there, with alcoholic and a note of green apple character in there as well.
TASTE: Roasted and leather flavors with plenty of peat and earthy tones up front. Some whisky too, with wood at the swallow, moving into a medium finish of peat, earthy flavors, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, leather as well as some whisky and alcohol. A hint of green apples still, though it is less present than in the nose. Flavorful.
PALATE: Medium body and lower levels of carbonation. Creamy and silky on the palate, goes down smooth with a bit of a bite and finishes somewhat mouth-coating. Decent heat lingers.
OVERALL: This is okay but not as wonderful as their 3565BC brews, which were both excellent. The texture and engineering are there, but the light green apple character was a deal breaker, unfortunately. Take that away and this would be really enjoyable. Pass on this one and try the others instead.
