Copenhagen 8/5 2021. 44 cl can from Væskebalanen, Valby Langgade, Valby. The can looks like the cover of a really bad synthpop record with a thinly drawn silhouette of two men standing in front of a Neon Beer can. Bewildering.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a small beige head. Stable. Settles as very thin layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with salty, bitter licorice. Roasted, dark malts, bitter dark chocolate. Potent, sharp alcohol lurking just underneath.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, smooth, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingering. Finish is dry licorice root with a boozy edge.
Powerful and surprisingly bitter. And a strange choice of beer for a can with two silhouettes standing in front of a Neon Beer.
