A classic London beer style with a long and colourful history, Porter originated in the city around 300 years ago. While there are conflicting accounts of the exact origins of Porter, it’s clear the beer has been enjoyed by hard-working Londoners for centuries. We use traditional malts and Kentish hops in ours, and we’ve also brewed experimental versions with tea, coffee, oysters, chipotle, and New World hops.

Pours a dark brown with thick tan head.

Smell is roasted and malty with notes of coffee, milk chocolate, coffee grounds and some toast.

Taste is roasted and malty with a moderate bitterness. Notes of coffee, coffee grounds, chocolate, licorice and brown bread

Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and well carbonated.

Overall, a terrific porter, blending modernity and tradition.

Bottle at The Miller, London, England

A: The beer is jet black in color and poured with a light beige head that left a very wide collar around the edge of the glass after it died down.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark, roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of dark malts with notes of cola. There is a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and tastes like a classic London Porter.

330ml bottle bought online from Ales By Mail...

Poured pretty much pitch black with just the slightest hint of brown around the edge. Mocha tan head poured big, thick and foamy then faded slowly to good rocky covering... some decent patchy lacing...

Aroma - Quite an odd mix... lots of roasted, sooty and charred notes, coffee, quite leathery, some sourness, lots of cola hints, dark brown sugar / treacle, grassy hops, some light citrus fruits, burnt toasted nuts, earthy, sharp saltiness...

Taste - Quite sooty, toasted bready malts, quite tart fruitiness (apples, red grapes, black currents), peppery and grassy hops, caramac, some raisins, bitter chocolate and some black coffee hints...

M&D - Quite sharp and dry and very carbonated (maybe overly so)... light / medium bodied... fairly drinkable...

Overall - A pretty decent and slighty unusual porter... worth a try...
