Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of lightly roasted and slightly caramelly malt, but dominated by strong raspberry and chocolate notes, as well as just a hint of vanilla and licorice. Taste follows the nose exactly, with a great balance of lightly roasted, caramel malt, strong, somewhat tart, raspberry and milk chocolate notes and lighter accents of vanilla and licorice. Finishes with a light bitterness and some raspberry and chocolate lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Quite a nice, lightly tart raspberry and sweet chocolate Stout that may be somewhat dominated by its main additions, but is still nicely balanced by some lightly roasted and bitter notes as well, preventing this from becoming quite too sweet or overbearing. It really is quite fruity, but with a rather nice balance of sweet, bitter, roasted and tart notes that works quite well, making for a rather enjoyable drinking experience in my personal opinion.
