This is a special edition of the Stokey Brown, this is a bourbon barrel version .
Now it is slightly darker than expected the body is just about brown, exremely dark brownand once settled there is a splattering, roughly a quarter of the surface area, of tiny tan bubbles that makes up the head.
The beer itself looks good but the bottle's label looks a bit like a pharmacy sticker.
The aroma is dark & intriguing, very smokey, very malty and just a hint of brown vinegar.
A lot going on in the taste smokey? We are talking henry Winterman
there is the peat aspect there to, not much but there.
A subdued sweetness like a good bbq sauce leading to a slight bitter aftertaste.
It is good but there seems to be a little depth missing.
The mouthfeel is where this good beer goes wrong
it is way too fizzy (I honestly stirred it to get rid of some of the excess)
and it is too thin.
It's good, it not far of great and enough to try to give the original version a go
but with this being a specialist beer shop purchase
unless I get it as a gift I doubt I will drink again
