330ml bottle bought from Ales By Mail
Poured a deep black colour. Burnt brown head poured pretty thick, foamy and meringue like then faded to light covering with thick edging... some light lines of lacing cling to the glass...
Aroma - Toasted bread and lightly charred malts, black coffee, sooty notes, some dark brown sugar sweetness, roasted nuttiness, some raisin fruitiness, very light oatiness, some faint smokiness coming through, quite earthy, leathery hints...
Taste - Nice roasted dark maltiness, toasted malt loaf, charred coffee notes, black tea, faint caramel sweetness, again some dark fruits (raisins and prunes), light nutmeg traces, some pepperiness...
Feel - Smooth initially then a little sharpness comes through... light / medium bodied... pretty drinkable at 4.6%
Overall - A very enjoyable porter. Nothing groundbreaking but just a well made drinkable porter... Recommended...
