Not a lager and not an ale, this “Koslch” style is a hybrid of the two. Light in body and golden in color, notes of pear, make this perfect for southern days or nights when you’re just countin’ the stars.

This is great summer beer or any other time you want something light with plenty of flavor. I usually am a hop head but really enjoyed this beer as a break.

Big Creek Kolsch has a thin, white head, a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, and a touch of glass lacing. The aroma is of mild sourdough bread and a faint lemon note. Taste is of those elements, with possible peach and low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat slick, and Big Creek Kolsch finishes mostly crisp and very enjoyable. This beer has a high I.E.U. (International Enjoyment Units) factor.

Let Big Creek warm up just a little and breath some in a tall, narrow glass and you will find this seemingly light, pale gold beer with a white foamy head will surprise you. Often pitched as a light craft beer perfect for the summer, I'm drinking it right now in the middle of winter and I could convincingly pitch this as a light craft lager, crisp, smooth, not bitter and perfect for the winter! It pours a clear pale gold with a healthy, white fizzy head and lacing. Smells fruity from the pear, grassy, grainy, malty and hoppy all at once. Like a lager married to a kölsch ale. I gotta say, Jekyll Brewing did exactly what they said, "created a kölsch style hybrid lager and ale, perfect for SOUTHERN days or nights, summers or winters. Depending on your mood or desire you can taste a crisp, smooth lager, or a light, crisp and not bitter kölsch ale. Sweet and smooth and a little hoppy with a dry finish. You can taste it all if you savor it. Feel is a light- medium body and refreshing. All things considered, if you take the time to notice this, this light, pale gold beer has a complex aroma and taste. My hat's off to the brewers and Jekyll Brewing, Big Creek is an outstanding beer.
