Clear black colored ale with a small brown head that dissipates to a ring quickly.
Smells strongly of whiskey. Sweet scent. Smells of caramel and vanilla. Scent of oak and smoke.
Starts out sweet with a strong vanilla flavor. Tastes strongly of chocolate and oak. Trace of smoke. No hops tasted at all. No real bitterness.
Mouthfeel is on the light side for the beer type.
Overall a tasty but not exceptional ale.

Got a 4 pack from Jubilation wine and spirits in Albuquerque. Great liquor store. Wasn't crazy about this beer at first but it grew on me big time. Basically a solid stout with a good hint of whisky, and kind of smoky. Would definitely buy again. Fantastic.

12 ounce bottle poured into an oversized tulip.
I'll confess I am going into drinking this beer a skeptic, because I've never really enjoyed Sierra Blanca's beers, other than Alien Imperial Stout when nothing else is available.
But this looks great. Pitch-black body and a plentiful, oatmeal-colored, foamy head. Persists well and leaves a ringlet of lace up the glass. So far so good. 5
Toasty aroma. Smells like toasted oak, buttery caramel, bourbon and vanilla. I'm even getting some cherry cordial type of flavor. This is pretty damn nice. 4.25
Taste reminds me of cherry cola or cherry Dr. Pepper. Sweet, cherry-tinged, caramel-heavy, with some oaken notes. Not quite as much whiskey as the nose, if at all really. There's a bit of an unwelcome lingering earthen, woodsy flavor on the finish that otherwise detracts from a pretty enjoyable flavor. 3.75
This drinks pretty well for the ABV and barrel treatment. Clean and not boozy. Medium-bodied and I guess what I'd call semi-viscous. Sticky feeling on the tongue with a nice transition to a dryer finish. 4
Sheeeeeeeeeeeit, Sierra Blanca done outdonediddone demselves. This is good.

Pours black with a nice thick mocha head. Head sticks around forever, as beer recedes decent lacing sticks to the side. Aroma is whiskey, tootsie roll, and oak. Flavor tastes like a tootsie roll dropped into a whiskey barrel. On the sweeter side but cut nicely by a kiss of some alcohol. Creamy mouthfeel. For an underwhelming brewery, this is a pretty nice Whiskey BA stout. A touch sweeter than I care for in stouts, but the more of I drank the more it won me over. And at $3 a single, its a steal.
