Making a concerted effort to move away from ticking and begin to review more beers again. Let's begin with this one... A double IPA brewed with Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, and Motueka hops. Have been pleased with other hoppy beers from these guys, so I'm looking forward to this one. Brewed for their first anniversary.
A- A cloudy, glowing orange with a superb, pillowy head that lingers for a long time. Plenty of lacing hangs around on the glass.
S- Love these hops. Tons of tropical fruit, citrus, sweet grape, and a faint pepperiness. Some booze is evident on the nose, though it's not overbearing.
T- A whole world of juicy, tropical sweetness, then sweet tangerine/orange, followed by faint citrus-rind bitterness with the same faint peppery notes as the smell. Some booze is there, though only subtly. Not a very bitter beer, by any means, but it maintains enough to please me. Malt is evident, but the hops are on display here. Great balance.
M- Love the body on this beer. Reminiscent of the likes of Double/Triple Sunshine, with a firm juiciness. Almost like biting into a firm fruit. Love it.
O- I'm increasingly impressed with Roundabout's beers, and this one has been my favorite. I would only ask for a little more bitterness, and a better masking of the alcohol. Still, next to an aged Gratitude, this is the best offering I've had from a Pittsburgh brewery. Hopefully, future offerings from Roundabout continue to impress. The Pittsburgh beer scene needs it.

This beer personifies Steve's style of brewing, at its best. Pours clouded, as usual. Nose is strong with citrus and passion fruit. It lingers and doesn't waver. Flavor is smooth and extremely easy to drink. Hop characteristics are fruit forward and very pleasant. Not a hop bomb, but a hop massage. It's been a long time since I've had the same beer twice in a row. If I could get this beer all the time, exactly as it is now, I would drink it regularly, without hesitation.
There's nothing unnatural about loving this beer. It seems the natural thing to do. Happy birthday, Roundabout.
