Not quite on tap on 5/8/14 but I was able to finagle a couple of pours.
My pour arrives in a 4 ounce snifter filled close to the brim, leaving room for only a thin, foamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves a scattered layer of lace over the body. A glowing golden and orange hued body shines through the glass, muted a bit by the cloudy appearance, but nonetheless tasty in appearance.
Orange and other citrus aromas offer some subtle notes on the nose. It's light and slightly wheat-like, offering hints of sweetness and a hint of tart.
I am surprised by the blend of sweet malt, hops, and citrus I get with the first sip. The beer is breadier than I was expecting, and some refreshing wheat flavor provides even more color to the beer. A lingering citrus peel tags the tongue and provides a good bite.
This beer really drinks very pleasantly. It's smooth, light, yet abundant in flavor and character. There's the right amount of effervescence and yeast character, a measured sweetness, and a plucky amount of hops to inject some bitterness.
This is a damn good beer and needs to be on the radar of all New Mexicans for the upcoming warmer months. Thank me later for saying so.
