Beautiful ruby red-brown color with a fine-grained foam in the Troubadour tulip. Aromas of roast grain, something like subtle cinnamon, but also a whiff of straight alcohol. Feels tannic in the mouth. Abundant suds as you sip.
The raisin and fig flavors jump out at you. There's a sourish hint that adds to the interest. This starts out with some sugary malt, but this is not a very sweet beer, and it's surprisingly dry for a strong Belgian style brew. Tastes stronger of alcohol as you sip. An interesting but yeast-driven strong brew. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Susan's Fine Wine & Spirits in Santa Fe.
