I visited Stella Brew on 6/11/19. The staff was very helpful, and they had a ton of local beer. I was looking for some Fonta Flora & Noda Hop Drop & Roll, and they had plenty of both. I highly recommend this store, and plan on visiting again when I find myself in Winston-Salem.

Stopped by for the first time today, and it will now be my weekly go to beer shop. Just getting into the craft beer scene, and this is a perfect place to start. Expansive cooler section and many more room temperature selections. Dude working there was super friendly and extremely helpful. He hooked me up with a Belgian white from Allagash Brewing and an IPA from Burial Beer that I can't wait to check out

Overall, a great bottle shop in Winston Salem. A little off the beaten path but worth the search. Friendly service and good selection of local, domestic and imported craft brews. Some wine available as well as I recall. A few beers on tap for growler service. Would be nice to be able to serve beer on premises but I honestly do not know the regs for the location so this may not be possible. Definitely worth a look!

Stopped here on my way to Asheville for business. Beautiful store with plenty of walking space and friendly people. Everything was clean and products were easy to find. Chris was extremely generous and helpful. Good selection and phenomenal prices.

Was pleasantly surprised to find this one after looking it up on BA. The selection isn't huge, but it's all quality. I found a few gems that I certainly wasn't expected to see. They guy that was working behind the counter was awesome and super friendly, even hooked me up with a free cozy on my way out. I'll be stopping here overtime I get the chance when visiting the area.

Not the most expensive collection, but the quality of what they have is very high. Staff seemed content to let guests come to them behind the counter, but I would prefer that to being hounded

Just moved to Winston-Salem this week, and discovered this store right around the corner from my house. It's an amazing place: the expansive, open floor plan and generous square footage make it a more pleasant and less claustrophobic shopping experience than the other bottle shops in its class that I've visited.
The selection is outstanding, topped off with a generous array of growler-fill offerings as well.
The wine selection is ample and interesting, most notably with an amazing assortment of ports.
Prices are competitive if not outstanding, but the service I experienced from Matt WAS outstanding. I'll be frequenting this place for sure.

Sweet place. Really well set up. Had some gems in there that I was stoked to get. Was recommended by some locals. Fellow behind the counter was nice and helpful.

Really nice relaxed vibe in the store. Matt and Chris are very helpful and friendly and most everything in the store is priced well. They get a very good selection of beer (don't know about the wines as they sell that too).

The growler fill station is nice with a counter pressure filler. The drawback is that it goes one at time so on busy days with tap takeovers or tastings there may be a wait to get your growler filled. But you can just browse the shop or chat up the workers. Really great place to have in Winston-Salem.

The best bottle shop in Winston. Great location and vibe, and Matt, Chris, and others are friendly, knowledgable, and friendly. Great counter-pressure growler filling station, so you don't have to rush to open the choice things they get on tap. Well organized shelves, frequent tastings, and a nice social media presence. Prices better than most I've been to in the area. All around awesome. Go there!

Hell of a cool vibe, great selection for the size of the store and does a good job of keeping people informed via social media. I like that you kind of know what is new and fresh. Good place check it out for sure! Very good selection as well and knowledgeable unpretentious employees.

Stella Brew appears to be located in an old building that was totally gutted and remodeled. It looks pretty sparse as you enter but as you begin perusing the couple aisles that mindset changes. There are basically two aisles in the store, probably 6' wide. The long row of shelves down the right handles bombers, 750s, and whatever other large format bottles are available. The labels go from locals to regionals to imports with a good smattering of Belgians. The middle 'row' of beer, that splits the two aisles, is a mix of small shelving units and case stacks. Some seasonals were stacked up here, a few meads back toward the counter, and some other randoms in between. To the left of the entrance runs a wall of cooler doors, stacked full with a large single selection, bombers, sixers, and 12-packs.

The selection was excellent. Eight taps were labeled on a chalkboard behind the counter with both 32oz and half gallon growlers available, filled through a counter pressure filler. A great selection of local seasonals are sprinkled throughout the store. The staff is particularly friendly and very helpful. Some locally made, good quality t-shirts were available in the back corner along with a display of frisbee golf discs.

The selection is well manicured at Stella, the growler choices are good and affordable, and the service top notch. Stella is a must hit when in Winston. Hell, it's worth a detour.

Love the selection of beers and how the beer is arranged by country and type. Found some great new brews to try. They are picking up some fun brew paraphernalia...glassware and stuff from local artists.

Matt is super friendly and knowledgeable. He helped us get our haul out to the car. Great location and easy parking.

I stopped in here on a recent trip to Winston. The place was easy to find and plenty of parking. The store itself is pretty large and open. I like this because some bottle shops are small and tight fitting. The selection is excellent. What impressed me most was the prices. Probably $1-$2 cheaper for a 6-pack or 750ml bottle than other places I've been to. They also have a growler filling station. They charge you for their growler, but if you bring it back the next time there isn't a charge. The beers on tap are a wide range so there's something for everyone. They also sell merchandise (glasses, koozies, t-shirts) with their logo on it. There is wine sold too, however I did not check out the selection.

Staff were generous enough to hold a couple of limited release beers for me to pick up. They were also so welcoming my first time in the store. This beer store is what all craft beer stores should be like. I look forward to returning and HIGHLY recommend if you're in the area to make a quick stop.

This is my first review, as I normally do not do this kind of thing. I was requested by the owner (who's name I forget) to write a review, and I was so impressed with the place, that here I am. During my visit to NC for a wedding I made it a point to stop into Foothills, as I had been there years ago and still remember the experience. I asked the bartender about a good beer store and he recommended Stella Brew, even thought he had not been there himself.

The store has one side of imports and larger format bottles, the other side is mostly coolers. There is also a center 'aisle' of various bottles, which I did not pay much attention to. I went over to the larger format bottles and got about 3 in my hands, then made my way to the counter and asked if I could start a collection up there, which I did. I got about 10 or so of the large format bottles, as they were all reasonably priced. The most I paid for one was about $8, which is still a low price in my mind.

I made my way over to the cooler section and was overwhelmed with all the selection in 6 and 4 packs. One of the coolers contained single bottles/cans (LOTS of cans in NC...) I grabbed those that I wanted and had a six pack to hold them, as I was doing so, the owner came over to talk to me. He had heard I was visiting from out of town and we spoke briefly. I asked him if I could take bottles/cans out of the six packs, as I was very interested in trying as many beers as possible and did not want to commit to an entire six pack. He was more than happy to allow me to do (which may have been due to the fact that I nearly $100 sitting on the counter).

All together I got between a case and two of various NC beers. The owner helped me carry out one of the boxes and threw in some gear (koozie & bar bottle opener) and asked me to write a review. I

I HIGHLY recommend this store. The selection was great for me, being from out of town and all. I am sure the employees would have been helpful, if I had any questions. The prices seem very reasonable to me, but maybe beers are just cheaper in the south compared to the northeast? I visited here on March 16th, 2014.

My favorite place to buy beer in Winston. Great selection, plenty of singles, beer tastings and a very knowledgable and friendly staff. They recently started a growler fill station that is always jamming with around 8 offerings. Made my day with wicked weed's freak of nature recently. The selection changes often and they'll let you bring your own 32 or 64 oz growler as long as it is not completely opaque, so no need to buy theirs (although I bought 2). If you're in Winston come check this place out.

This place is a gem! The only thing better than the beer selection is the incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff. The owners are equally welcoming to the complete craft beer novice looking to learn about he wonderful world of beer as they are the connoisseur.

If you are in the piedmont of NC and need a good bottle shop, this is the place to go. They often have food trucks parked in the parking lot and often do tastings so they have it all.

Cheers to Stella Brew!

This is a great local shop in Winston. Matt and his crew really do a stellar job making you feel welcome and assisting you in finding what you're looking for. The selection is extensive and the wine variety (even though not relevant to some) has grown as of late. The beer selection is top notch and the growler station is coming soon. Just a great place and atmosphere. Be sure to stop by if you're in town.

Awesome place. Great selection. Owner is a super nice guy, very knowledgeable about beer and the industry. Prices are a dollar or two lower than any others in town. For being a new place, it gets all the big releases. So glad to support a place like this in winston.

This place is awesome!!! It was recommended to me while I was in line at Foothills. They told me to go see Matt and so I did. Gorgeous presentation and a wonderful selection. They had some hard-to-find items on the shelf at very reasonable prices. Matt, the owner, goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and find what you are looking for. I bought a right good amount of stuff and he even threw in some stickers, coozies, and a glass. I wouldn't expect him to that every time, but it was a nice touch for an out-of-towner like myself. He certainly has my business from here on out. Thanks, Matt!!!! Best of luck bro!

Awesome place to stop in Winston for craft beer. Also has wine selection but can't judge that since I do not drink much wine. The owner is awesome and goes out of his way to help you. The store is nicely organized and things are easy to find. Def my go to place in Winston when looking for beer. I def recommend if you are a craft beer fan and in or around the Winston area.

I visited this shop twice, every time i go there the owner makes it a point to say hello. There is a wall of coolers to the left with various chilled bombers/ six packs and a few bottles of wine. They have an awesome selection for just starting out, I'm sure as they sell more the distributor will get them more goodies. This place has been made my new go to place to get beer. Great business all around and cant wait for the growler fills!

Super pumped to see this shop as I drove by one day. Turned right around and popped in. Come by here all the time and never knew this was what was coming in. I am all for another bottle shop option, especially so close to home.

Walking in you are greeted with beer on all fronts. The Left side is dedicated to coolers lining the walls. As far as I know, this is the only place in town that has such a vast selection of chilled singles to create a mixed-sixer - perfect for a stop-by before a get-together or party. They also have a huge selection of chilled bombers which is unheard of in town. Love that option. Selection is vast. Saw some stuff I hadn't spotted anywhere else. Prices seem more reasonable than "other spots" in town as well. They had a few options for glassware, with their logo on it. Looks like I'll be adding that to my collection. The beer is organized really well by style and country so it makes it easy to find what you want.

No taps yet, but I hear that that is in the plan come January first when NC allows growler-fills! Yay! Didn't get to talk to the owner as he was helping someone else out the entire time, but he seemed really knowledgeable and friendly.

Looking forward to making this my new go-to beer stop. Cheers, Stella!

So glad this place opened finally. It's half the distance from my house as total wine and city bev in Winston. Less gas=more $ for beer. Win.

Atmosphere. 5. It's well planned out enough, but they had Grateful Dead Radio playing which is an automatic 5 from me, period. No complaints in this department as I saw many of the same people I see at every other beer store in town.

Quality. 4.5. As good as it gets around here. We are limited in our distro, but everything I look for regularly was there and even some others I haven't seen around. Mainly sours and Belgians. Win. The dates were all very good on date sensitive beers, but I guess that can be expected with new stock. I did not look at any wine.

Service. 4.5. The owner, Matt, and his wife were incredibly friendly and introduced themselves and offered help. I declined and was not asked again, which I greatly appreciate.

Selection. 4.75. Very nice all around. Everything from PBR to 30$ bottles of Hanssens Special reserve Kriek.

No food, and I don't like disc golf, so impartial there.

Price. 5. I put "reasonable" because in no way is craft beer "inexpensive". That said, everything I buy normally, (ruination, death by hops, expedition, etc) were easily a dollar cheaper on 6 packs and large format than Total Wine. Don't even get me started on city beverage's prices and that old dick at the $ register.

Matt did assure me that taps are in the works to be ready for the growler fill law passing on January 1. They are not in a zone where they can do on premise, but I could care less as I'm not interested in high abv beers during daytime hours. And neither is anyone else it appears as city bev had Ruinten on tap for 3 weeks but it sold out in hours in bottles.

Overall, an easy 4.75 overall from me. There's always room for improvement in everything, but I appreciate the quality and care that appears to have been put into this bottle shop. I will frequently purchase here because of price and location alone. Cheers!

Plenty of neighborhood folks were out for the soft opening, and this little corner of Hawthorne has suddenly gotten a lot more inviting for us (I'm looking in your general direction, Fancy Beer Night at Carlisle's).

The shop's set-up was sensible and accessible; lines of coolers to the left, boxes of beer, then shelves of wine, in the middle, and shelves of beer by style to the right. Layout is open, but I worry that storefront windows let in too much light. No direct sunlight, but I'm just picky.

The owner introduced himself to all visitors. He regretted the absence of home brewing supplies, but, really, I think there's space here to start stocking.

It's not City Beverage (also of W-S), and there aren't any taps. Once you get past that, you can grab a No-Da IPA or a pretty nice sour; it seems like the owners stock what they like best of most styles. There are plenty of coolers if you're into fresh beer, and they've labeled themselves some nifty glassware.

Prices are about the same as most other, local retailers.

A great shop, especially if you're around the neighborhood. The main floor seems a little too packed with boxes, so I wonder how fresh most of their stuff will remain. City Bev and TW have the edge, of course, so I think it will be up to neighborhood, a walking-friendly community, to support this.
