Crisp and clean when it's right off the tap at Astoria Bier & Cheese (Ditmars). However, as it warms, diacetyl comes out. This beer is close to great, with a tight, earthy finish, but the diacetyl takes it off course.

The beer comes in a clear straw color.
The beer offers hints of fruity esters, pale malts, hints of spicy hops throughout as medium minus sweetness balances out the brew. A really crisp drinking beer and well done for the style.

Okay, okay, okay -- the boys at Plattedeusch will say this isn't a kolsch since it ain't from Cologne. so we'll go with Kolsch style, but as my favorite Kathryn Hepburn quote says -- "Nevertheless!" this is what kolsch is all about.

Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.
The smell featured a grainy pilsner malt and herbal hop.
The taste consisted of the same grainy malt with the herbal noble hop spice.
The mouthfeel was typical of the style.
Overall a tasty kolsch.
