Hazy gold with orange tint. Small white head that lasts about five minutes.
The smell is slightly dank.
The taste dank bitter resinous hops with a fairly strong malt backing. There is a touch of pepper from the rye.
Mouthfeel is medium with just enough carbonation. The finish is medium dry and bitter.
Overall a solid and unusual IPA. Very tasty.

12 oz bottle
Pours a big, two finger white head into my can-style glass. The body is dark orange in color, relatively high clarity, carbonation looks just above medium. Good looking beer so far.
The nose is quite nice here. Pretty fruity, somewhat sweet, with a very dank, spicy undertone. I might even say cracked pepper-esque. The dankness smells like aussie hops to me. The fruity hops are not quite what I would call tropical, almost jam-like, but not nearly that sweet. This is a little over the top edgy with the hops, in your face, but I like that, so I wont knock it here. This is a unique, powerful, and just downright good smelling beer.
The hops are a little more blended with the rest of the beer on the flavor, not as crazy, which is good and bad. It makes it a little more sessionable than I was expecting, but also less exciting. Dankness hits relatively well for the majority of the palate, mixing with a medium sweet malt profile. Finishes with a little spice. Not really too much in the way or fruit. Very nice beer, well balanced, nothing to complain about. I like the spicy addition here, even if it is slightly less noticeable in the flavor. Hard to decide whether I like the aroma or the flavor more, I think I have to say the aroma. The flavor is very nice, just not quite all the way there.
The mouthfeel is quite nice here. Medium bitterness, and a light-medium body lead way to the spicy tingle and a small, appropriate lingering bitterness. Good mouthfeel.
The drinkability is pretty good here. It isn’t really rough at all, like I thought it would be after smelling it. It blends flavors quite well, and the pronounced flavors it does have, are appropriate.
The appearance turned out nice. I got thick lacing all the way down the glass. The head retention was average. Overall a good looking beer though.
Overall this is a unique beer, with really not much draw back. Nice to see a good beer come out of a brewery that I personally think has been lacking in quality (and wasting potential) for over two years.
