DATE: June 4, 2021... OCCASION: home from visiting Mom and in need of a good drink... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... pours a hazy orange amber body, densely opaque, with an off-white head that settles to seafoam... a gentle orange ade, creamy vanilla, watermelon, coconut, funky yeasts that you can't quite place, and some floral hints.... begins with some bubbles and zest and ends with the dryness characteristic of the style... in the middle, a creaminess pervades--it holds well and doesn't suggest its ABV... its flavor profile includes orange, banana, pepper, pilsner malts, and aromatic flower malts... this is a solid hybrid, with the added bonus of hopped-up alcohol... a solid beer...
