Tectonic is a ground pounding monster of a hoppy beer. We have added hops at every possible point in the brewing process - mashtun, first wort, eight kettle additions, hop back, whirlpool and three dry hop additions in the fermenter. This beer is dripping with intense passion fruit, tropical and citrus pine flavors and aroma.

On tap a the Bier Stein, during a recent Sunriver event.
The beer pours an orange amber color, with good head retention and lacing. The nose is OK, as I get noticeable malt, light pine, dry citrus and sort of a sandlewood aroma. On the palate... sigh. On the bright side, you don't get the hot, sweet, boozy mess you get from some "TIPA's", but by the same token, there really isn't anything to recommend this beer either. This is much more like a lack luster DIPA, one where you get some up front malty sweetness, that quickly dove tails into a dry, hoppy, somewhat dirty/dusty finish. At least you don't get a lot of noticeable alcohol in this beer, but by the same token, when did you last see a TIPA that is under 10% abv? Not that a high abv. is an absolute necessity, but I feel like it comes with the territory with a TIPA.
Shrug. I've had worse efforts when it comes to TIPA's, but this is still pretty unimpressive, and is not a beer I could see myself ordering again.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
