This 2017 Alpha King runner-up is hyper-focused on several of our favorites dank hop varieties. Those hops deliver layers of pungent, earthy, and resinous character to this big, bold West Coast-style Double IPA.

Look: Semi-opaque burnt orange with a lively head that swells up and holds as a 1-finger pillow, slowly receding to reveal great lacing left behind
Aroma: Passionfruit, Cannabis terpenes, pine, blueberries, diesel, sweet bready malt, orange, and some melon
Taste: Pine, blueberries, Cannabis, and tropical fruit strike first and immediately joined by an onslaught of citrus and wave upon wave of terpenes – coniferous, diesel, and sharp citrus. Sweet malt provides support throughout as resinous conifer, berry, citrus, and dank come to close it out
Mouthfeel: Full – bordering on slightly chewy, medium-high carbonation, slick, and a strong hop bite along with moderate to strong dryness on the finish
Overall: This is delicious. As the name implied and so I assumed going into it, this beer’s hop profile leans towards Humulus lupulus’s cousin for its aroma/flavor profile and it does so and does so very well. Lots of dank throughout and a good depth of profiles as well. Malt feels and tastes like a DIPA should and not only has a formidable bite and dryness but also hides the ABV quite well. Recommended

My kind of DIPA. Clean and clear golden hue yet a lousy head, aromas and flavors of dank weed and pungent pine. Some simple malt sweetness to support a magnificent bitterness, though a tad rich. Gotta get me some more Double Dank! Cheers.
