these guys have been kicking some serious butt lately, ive liked all ive had from them recently, including the cocoa cow, the shred head winter warmer, and now this. its a hazy double new england ipa, and better than pretty much any other hoppy beer i have ever had from them in the past if i can remember right. its essentially an el dorado bomb, showcasing the hop in all its glory, although there are others in the mix, including cryo citra, which i am starting to see more and more of in beers like this. the color is uniformly hazy, real pale orange, and with a tall white head, a little dense looking, but not unappealing as the style goes. i get a lot of ripe cantaloupe from the el dorado right away, along with some mandarin oranges from the can, both in nose and taste, some lime zest and leaf from the galaxy, and some white grape juiciness as well. really mouthwatering in the aroma, and without any drop off in the taste. melon abounds, with some sweet orange in the mix, orange tic tacs, kumquats, kiwi fruit, and white wine stone fruit character, amazing really. the citra isnt obvious in its usual way, seems somehow bolder and danker in this, maybe the cryo format doing that. some herbal character but never really any greenness in the finish, its cleaner than anticipated, off dry but tidy on the fermentation and the dry hopping, and really well executed overall. bigger grain base in mouthfeel but mild in flavor, pale wheat and two row barley could be all, its fluffy without being distracting. i could drink a bunch of these too, as the alcohol is super well hidden and it doesnt have the long linger of many hazy doubles. really exceptional, el dorado to the dome!
