cool variant of this exceptional base beer. to me its a little sweeter, at least in terms of perception, but its full of flavor, both the cherry and the vanilla are evident and expressive in here, fully compatible with the rich milk chocolate profile the base beer presents, and smooth and rich feeling like the original, they have done a nice job enhancing and expanding on the base beer without bastardizing it, which is a common problem when breweries start playing around with their classics. to me the cherry is more evident in the nose, and vanilla more in the flavor, both work great with the chocolate and they work great together, faintly candied on the cherry, maybe a whisper overdone on the vanilla, but thats being critical, this all seems natural and cohesive and right, heck im sure its supposed to drink like dessert, and it properly does. i love the body, its saturated and dense but it doesnt linger all that long on the swallow, and i swear the cherry throws in just enough acidity for this to be balanced, like it cuts the sweet. the chocolate also still has some deep bitterness to it, and there is enough roasted grain in here that i find equilibrium and could drink a few of them. this comes in at a cool abv too, like i could drink a couple and not be wasted, and its good enough that i want to. love these guys! i prefer the original, its special, but this is cool too.
