This Wood Series project began life as a big, bold Baltic Porter. We carefully aged the brew for 12 months in the finest small batch 10-year Kentucky bourbon barrels. This strong, dark lager was then further conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans for the ultimate infusion of smoothness. The finished beer displays complex notes of caramel, oak, spice, and honey. Barrel character hits with an herbaceous
note and the vanilla rounds out the flavor profile of this decadent delight.

Bottle poured into a snifter
A: Pours basically black with a frothy tawny brown head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.
S: Rich vanilla bean, molasses, spice, smooth bourbon, brown sugar, toffee, and honey, oak, floral hints, roasty malt, and a touch of earthy char.
T: Smooth bourbon, rich vanilla bean, spice, oak, honey, toffee, molasses, floral notes, roasty malt, and mild char.
M: Full body, moderate carbonation, creamy smooth with just a touch of warmth.
O: I'm used to Baltic Porters having at least a little dark fruit presence, but I can't say that I'm picking up much if any of any here. That ends the gripes section of this review as there's literally nothing else that I can say about this one that isn't positive. Really nicely put together; the vanilla and barrel character shine while also flashing some unique floral honey and molasses notes.
My buddy split this one with me and by sip 2 he was already wishing that he grabbed more bottles of it when he was up there last summer.
