500mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 15.99. Bottle 242 of 350, bottled 10/18/17. Served in a Barrel and Barley teku. Enjoyed 1/18/18.
Pours oil black with about a finger and a half cap of dense khaki froth. The head recedes to a fine film and narrow perimeter, imparting several small dots and dashes of lace.
Rich aromas of heavily roasted malt, cocoa, bourbon, wood, faint vanilla and a hint of cooling alcohol.
Assertive and decadent flavors of bourbon, roasty malt, dark fruit skins, bittersweet dark chocolate, cooked caramel, wet oak, some pine, subtle vanilla, charred wood and a healthy dose of booze. Slightly more bitter than expected but the vanilla becomes significantly more apparent as this reaches room temperature, which serves to bring a nice balance.
Creamy, medium full feel with pleasantly restrained carbonation. The bittersweet finish blends bourbon, dark chocolate fudge and burnt sugar.
Cherry Street has created an enjoyable variant of their delicious OASIS. It’s cool to see a local brewery that I respect doing a limited collaboration with my favorite bottle shop. Glad I was one of the relative few that had a chance to try this.
