500ml bottle. Bottled DEC 2019.
Appearance: Pours a rather hazy, dark brown body with real appreciable head formation.
Smell: A heady, sweet-scented malt aroma, rich in cooked brown sugar with a dusting of chocolate powder and merest, faintest suggestion of coffee. Fragrant apple note backed by some dark fruitiness and a noted alcoholic potency with a teensy bit of ground nut nuttiness. Earthy, well-worn woody barrel accent.
Taste: A popping enticement of malty sweetness loading up brown sugar, caramel and chocolate with a hint of vanilla and sucrose-laden coffee. Dark fruit compote of dates, raisins boiled up with warming, wafting trails of apple brandy. Subdued barrel quality underneath all the richness. Some sips lean a bit more towards oozing caramel, others lean a bit more towards sweet chocolate. Enough sips and you, too with be leaning, so do try and have a cozy couch and a blanket at the ready.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Very low, light carbonation, lending to a rather smooth, coating mouthfeel.
Overall: Honeyed and oh-so luscious and just a pure beast of sugary sweetness and heated alcohol -- but in a good way! Special thanks to user kp for passing along this bottle.
