Look: It pours brown with a tan head. Head retention is low.
Smell: The aromas are of malt, orange, and ginger. There are some cherry tobacco elements with toffee and rye.
Taste: The flavors are strong with orange and ginger. There are toffee notes with cherry tobacco and rye. There is a bit of a sugary element well in the background with hints of smoke.
Feel: It has a full body on the chewy side with strong, but pleasant alcohol warming.
Overall, a complex combination of flavors with strong spcing and orange notes.

Appearance: Very dark brown body, no appreciable head.
Smell: Earthy freshly-milled spices alongside a rye grain piquancy. Strong dark fruitiness. With a bit of warmth, the individual spices become a bit easier to discern.
Taste: Fairly sweet taste of dark treacle and dark German bread. Earthy spices, cinnamon and nutmeg. Touch of peppery rye and wood barrel tannins. Slight hint of bitterish orange peel, but moreso a rich dark fruit character. Glug of alcohol warmth. As with the aromatics, as it warmth a bit more orange showing in the flavor. Finishes spicy-sweet and warming.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Light, low carbonation.
Overall: Pumpernickel meets the qualities of a bourbon-soaked fruit cake.
