Didn’t order any food and wouldn’t have wanted to honestly. They had a dj booth set up outside that was blaring through the bar and outdoor seating. Could barely talk to my wife. I had one beer there that was mediocre at best. The bar had no special qualities that provided any atmosphere at all and it wasn’t as clean as you might like. No waiters/waitress’ so you have to go to the bar every time to order. Selection of cans to go was slim. Will not go back.

Spent a weekend in TC and happened upon this place and glad I stopped in. It's a unique space playing off the name for the decor. There was a nice selection of taps that spanned across many styles and there were a couple of bottled beers that were also delicious. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and my glass did not stay empty when finished. Did not eat there so have no comment on the food. If you're in TC, be sure to check these guys out!

Stopped by one night walking around town for a couple pints. Located just off the main drag in the Warehouse District, Workshop was slow and inviting. Two rows of tables and chairs are outside, while the rolling doors were open leaving a good chunk of the interior exposed to the great weather. Orders are placed at the small bar inside. Beer is served there, and food is brought out. I wish we hadn't just eaten, because the kitchen constantly emanated ridiculously delicious aromas. Some people had plates of nachos that were arranged in extremely appetizing ways. Service was friendly and quick, and the three beers we shared were good to very good. Definitely coming back and having a meal.

Finally got to check this place out a couple of weekends ago. Lots of people enjoying themselves, good music, and some games to play with friends. Decent selection of beers on tap and to go. Had one of the best grilled cheeses of my life. I'm not a fan of the "over the counter" style ordering you find at some breweries, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I'll definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Traverse City. Would recommend!

Beers is always solid, the staff are very beer savvy. You can get in early iI find the time to chat about the beer. The local patrons are nice to. Very tidy place and all the beer names are workshop related. I like the blackboard info on their beers.

You have to order at the bar but my limited interaction was the bartender was very good. Atmosphere is intentionally industrial but nice, lots of open space and plenty of games including pinball, foosball, board games, etc. Beer was a bit low on flavor, even the barrel aged ones. Easy drinking but not tasty enough for me to want 8oz pours in the sampler/flight. Nothing offensive about the beers but even with two of us splitting a flight we didn't finish it.

I rated this space once before when it was Right Brain, but gone is the beauty saloon sharing the building and now just a brewery/taproom. It works much better and is open and airy. Better furniture, fixtures, and decorating. Still maintains the industrial feel. Very slow during my visit on a weekday afternoon with maybe 10 people in the space. Solid lineup of ten American and British style beers available and everything I tasted was done very well. Would drink any of them again. Added a small kitchen that I do not believe Right Brain had, did not try any food.
I really enjoyed my visit and would return again if I found myself in Traverse City.

The Work shop was an interesting little place. Apparently it is the sight of the original Right Brain Brewery. The inside is rather sparse with a kind of Russian cold war theme going on. Different, but I kind of dug it. I tried two of their beers and thought they were both good. The Ball Peen (ESB) was really tasty, and Wrecking Ball (Porter) was also quite good. We did not eat any food there. We were there on a weekday afternoon so there was just a bartender on staff and a few people sitting at the bar, but it was pretty slow. This place is in a warehouse district and a little hard to find, but I enjoyed it.

With an Soviet era Eastern European theme (I know, right?), The Workshop feels foreign by design. Don't worry, the beer is excellent, all brewed by traditional European standards. Bring you're appetite, the food is OUTSTANDING! Traverse City's most underrated restaurant. -Joe
